VERY RARE Hestenes Norway Sterling & Enamel HUGE Butterfly Brooch 1930s

Rare and spectacular! Massive in size with stunning detail and an array of colors. The guilloche enamel is clean and bright with absolutely no damage or repairs. There is minor fading to the gilding on the of the antennae, and minor surfaces scratches on back. Not surprising as this gorgeous piece is almost 100 years old! Included with purchase is a converter so it can be worn as a pendant on a chain if preferred.

Kristian M. Hestenes born in 1873, in Goppen in Nordfjord area of Norway. He studied under Theodore Olsen and obtain his license in 1904. The same year he opened his workshop in Bergen. His work won him national awards in 1910 and 1928.
