Bold, playful and wonderfully sculptural, this dramatic pair of abstract modernist candlestick holders by Rick Martin was created in 2012 and transforms a functional object into a striking piece of contemporary decorative art.
Constructed in black-finished metal, each tall candlestick features an energetic composition of sweeping arcs, elongated vertical lines and oversized circular forms, creating an architectural silhouette that changes depending on the viewing angle.
The restrained black framework provides a dramatic backdrop for the six brilliant metallic-finish spheres positioned across the centers. Shades of turquoise, aqua, gold, orange-red, magenta and deep violet give the pair a fabulous burst of color and a distinctly Memphis, Pop Art and postmodern-inspired personality.
Although designed to hold taper candles, these pieces are visually strong enough to be displayed completely on their own. At just over 19 inches tall, they have substantial presence and read almost like a pair of miniature abstract sculptures.
Placed together, the two pieces form a beautifully balanced composition, with the curved lines appearing to mirror and interact with one another. They would be fantastic on a console, dining table, mantel, credenza, bookshelf or dramatic entry table, either with candles or simply displayed as sculptural objects.
Their graphic black framework and saturated jewel-tone accents allow them to work beautifully in modernist, contemporary, Memphis, eclectic, Pop Art, maximalist and postmodern interiors.

Condition: Excellent, exceptionally well-preserved condition. Both candlesticks remain structurally sound with the black finish and colorful enamel spheres presenting beautifully. No notable damage or significant loss to the decorative finishes.
A wonderfully unusual pair that sits somewhere between functional candleholder and abstract sculpture — exactly the kind of statement piece that can give an otherwise restrained interior a shot of color and personality.

About the Artist: Rick Martin is a Metalsmith from Englewood, CO. "All of my art work is made of steel with the embellishment of some stainless & wood. They are welded, ground and then painted and stained to give each piece a vintage appeal. I strive to honor the clean & graceful lines of the “Modern Design” period. My art work is purposely colorful, bright & vivid."

Damages and issues
Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

European Union 14 day cooling off period
Notwithstanding the above, if the merchandise is being shipped into the European Union, you have the right to cancel or return your order within 14 days, for any reason and without a justification. As above, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
