Absolutely fabulous vintage mid-century era swag chandelier featuring an unusually beautiful combination of matte black wrought iron, warm metallic copper-finished steel, and a large white glass globe.
The dramatic frame is formed from sweeping wrought-iron arms with curled scroll ends, creating a sculptural silhouette reminiscent of the glamorous Hollywood Regency, Mediterranean and Spanish Revival lighting designs of the 1960s. Suspended within the frame is a broad flared steel shade finished in a rich metallic copper tone, surrounding a large luminous white glass globe at the center.
The contrast is what makes this fixture so striking: crisp black iron scrollwork against warm copper, softened by the glowing white glass globe. When illuminated, the open upper shade allows light to reflect upward as well as through the globe, creating a wonderfully warm ambient effect.
A generous 109-inch / approximately 9-foot-1-inch black chain makes this especially versatile for rooms with tall ceilings or for use as a traditional plug-in swag fixture. It could also potentially be converted for ceiling-mounted installation by a qualified electrician.
The fixture has received a light cosmetic refresh and protective top coat to revive the original appearance while preserving its vintage character. It presents beautifully, with no significant dents, enamel loss, cracks or structural damage noted.
The plug is marked “Academy Automatic Made in U.S.A.”, an interesting piece of vintage American electrical hardware. Academy Automatic plugs are documented on period American lighting and electrical equipment, although the plug alone cannot reliably establish the precise manufacture date of the fixture.
Shown illuminated in the photographs. As with all vintage lighting, professional inspection by a qualified electrician is recommended prior to installation or permanent hardwiring.
This would be spectacular above a dining table, in a dramatic entryway, reading nook, bedroom, lounge or eclectic living space. It has enough architectural presence to stand on its own as a piece of sculptural décor even when the light is switched off.

Damages and issues

European Union 14 day cooling off period
Notwithstanding the above, if the merchandise is being shipped into the European Union, you have the right to cancel or return your order within 14 days, for any reason and without a justification. As above, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
