Superb vintage Lore Garrick sterling silver modernist cufflinks, featuring a beautifully restrained geometric design built around the interplay of positive and negative space.

Each elongated rectangular cufflink incorporates a sleek open center framed by polished sterling silver, creating an architectural composition that feels both minimal and sculptural. The design is understated from a distance yet exceptionally interesting up close, with the open form giving the cufflinks a sense of depth and movement.

The clean geometry and thoughtful use of empty space are wonderfully characteristic of mid-century American studio jewelry, where form, proportion, and material were allowed to take center stage.

About Lore Garrick:
Lore Garrick (1920–2013), born Lieselotte Lore, was a New York–based modernist jeweler and artist active during the mid-20th century. She created hand-wrought jewelry in sterling silver and other metals, and her work is associated with the American studio jewelry / wearable art movement of the 1950s and 1960s. Her pieces are typically signed “LORE” and often feature strong geometric forms, open negative space, sculptural construction, and a distinctly modernist sensibility.

Garrick operated a shop in midtown Manhattan and produced brooches, earrings, bracelets, pendants, and cufflinks. 

Her interest in art extended well beyond jewelry. She and her husband collected pre-Columbian objects from Mexico and Central America, and works from the Garrick collection later entered the holdings of the National Museum of the American Indian / Smithsonian.

Today, Lore Garrick’s jewelry is collected as part of the broader American modernist and studio-jewelry tradition, and her pieces appear through specialist modernist-jewelry dealers and auction houses.
