Exceptional circa-1950s sterling silver modernist bracelet by noted New York jewelry designer Bill Tendler.
This striking bracelet is constructed from six articulated graduating panels, each beautifully engineered with a raised three-dimensional bar running vertically through its center. The panels progressively taper from approximately 1" wide to .5", creating a strong architectural rhythm while maintaining an unexpectedly fluid, flexible feel on the wrist.
Individual panels are joined by round sterling connector rings, allowing the bracelet to move naturally while emphasizing Tendler's fascination with structure, geometry and construction. The dimensional center bars create additional depth and shadow, giving this otherwise minimalist design a distinctly sculptural presence.
The result is quintessential American studio modernism—clean, functional and beautifully restrained, yet instantly recognizable as an artist-designed piece rather than conventional commercial jewelry.
Bill Tendler worked in New York's Greenwich Village during the flourishing postwar modernist jewelry movement. Contemporary writing described his work as uncluttered and strongly structural, specifically noting his link bracelets among his characteristic designs.
The bracelet is in excellent vintage condition with little visible wear and has great patina and character. An outstanding collector's example of mid-century American modernist jewelry.
About Bill Tendler:
Tendler was part of the important group of independent modernist jewelers working in Greenwich Village, New York, alongside names associated with the movement such as Art Smith, Ed Wiener and Paul Lobel, just to name a few. A 1960 Industrial Design article specifically discussed Tendler's West Fourth Street shop and characterized his jewelry as uncluttered, structurally driven and influenced by Bauhaus design, mentioning his link bracelets among his characteristic motifs.

Damages and issues
Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

European Union 14 day cooling off period
Notwithstanding the above, if the merchandise is being shipped into the European Union, you have the right to cancel or return your order within 14 days, for any reason and without a justification. As above, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
