A wonderfully sculptural pair of vintage Mid-Century Modern Siamese cat bookends, featuring beautifully stylized ivory-toned ceramic felines mounted on substantial black marble bases with dramatic natural white veining.
Designed as a mirrored pair, the reclining cats face inward toward one another, each with a gracefully curled tail, elongated body, sharply modeled ears and wonderfully exaggerated front paw extending over the edge of its marble base.
Their expressions are especially striking — sleek, slightly mysterious and unmistakably feline — with narrow almond-shaped eyes and simplified facial features that give the pair a distinctly modernist, almost architectural presence.
The restrained ivory-and-black palette allows the sculptural silhouettes to take center stage, while the polished marble bases provide both visual weight and the practical heft needed for use as functional bookends.
They would be equally appealing displayed as standalone decorative sculptures, flanking a stack of art books, records or a small collection of favorite volumes.
Condition
The pair is in excellent vintage condition.
Both ceramic cats remain clean and beautifully preserved with no chips, cracks or repairs observed. The marble bases are likewise in excellent condition with no notable chips or cracks.

Please review all photographs closely, as they form an important part of the condition description.

Any photographs showing furniture or additional décor are included only to demonstrate styling and scale. Only the sculpture is included with the purchase.
