Sculptural, graphic, and unmistakably Jonathan Adler, this fabulous pair of Happy Chic apple bookends has been completely restored and given a sophisticated new look in richly textured black.
The playful oversized apple silhouette is quintessential Jonathan Adler — whimsical enough to have personality, yet clean and architectural enough to work beautifully in a polished modern interior. Their substantial form and nearly 3.5-pound combined weight make them functional bookends as well as striking decorative objects.
Originally finished in white, the pair came to me in condition that no longer did the design justice. They were carefully restored and refinished in a textured black acrylic finish, transforming the apples into bold, almost sculptural silhouettes. The new finish was then sealed beneath a heavy clear protective lacquer for added durability and years of continued display.
The undersides were also completely refreshed with new protective felt. Importantly, I was able to carefully preserve the original Jonathan Adler Happy Chic labels from the old felt and reattach them to the new backing, retaining the maker identification and history of the pieces.
The matte-textured black against the strong geometric apple form gives these bookends tremendous decorating versatility. They would be fantastic in a mid-century modern, contemporary, minimalist, eclectic, industrial, modern office, library, study, or monochromatic interior.
Use them conventionally to anchor a favorite collection of books, or display them on their own as a pair of sculptural decorative objects. They would look particularly striking on a walnut bookshelf, white lacquer console, glass shelving, or a sleek executive desk.
Condition: Fully restored. Originally white and refinished in textured black acrylic with a durable clear protective lacquer. New felt has been installed on the bottoms, with the original Jonathan Adler Happy Chic labels carefully preserved and reapplied. Structurally sound and ready for immediate display.
Any photographs showing furniture or additional décor are included only to demonstrate styling and scale. Only the bookends are included with the purchase.

Returns policy
We have a 14-day return policy, which means you have 14 days after receiving your item to request a return.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags (if applicable) and in its original packaging.

Damages and issues
Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.
Exceptions / non-returnable items
Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on gift cards.
European Union 14 day cooling off period
Notwithstanding the above, if the merchandise is being shipped into the European Union, you have the right to cancel or return your order within 14 days, for any reason and without a justification. As above, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
