A superb piece of wearable contemporary art by Swedish-American metalsmith Barbro Eriksdotter Gendell, hand signed and dated 2009.
The elongated, asymmetrical pendant combines contrasting silver surfaces with warm yellow-gold accents in a wonderfully architectural composition. The upper rectangular section features a richly raised, almost geological texture crossed by linear elements of gold, while the lower portion transitions into a smoother, sharply angled plane. Suspended beneath the design on a fixed stem is a single luminous Akoya pearl, adding softness and movement to the otherwise bold geometric form.
The contrast between the heavily worked surface, polished silver, gold detail, and pearl gives this piece wonderful visual depth. At over two inches long, the pendant has substantial presence while retaining the refined proportions associated with artist-made studio jewelry.
The pendant is hand engraved “Eriksdotter 09 .999 / .925,” documenting both the artist and year of creation. It remains in excellent condition with no damage and little to no visible wear. It is paired with a complementary 19-inch Italian 925 sterling silver chain.
About the Artist
Barbro Eriksdotter Gendell was educated in art, design, and textiles in both her native Sweden and the United States and has worked primarily in metals since 1976.
She is a charter member of the Washington Guild of Goldsmiths, where she has served in several leadership roles, including president. Since 1983, she has also been associated with Studio Metallum at the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, Virginia, an important center for American studio craft and contemporary jewelry.
Eriksdotter has taught in the Jewelry Department of the Art League School, and her work has been included in numerous juried local, national, and international exhibitions.
A wonderful opportunity to acquire a signed and dated example of American studio jewelry by an accomplished metalsmith—equal parts pendant, sculpture, and miniature work of art.
I particularly like “Sterling Silver Gold & Akoya Pearl Modernist Pendant Necklace 2009” in the title because it gets the important materials and date right up front while still leaving room for Barbro’s name.

Damages and issues
Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective, damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.

European Union 14 day cooling off period
Notwithstanding the above, if the merchandise is being shipped into the European Union, you have the right to cancel or return your order within 14 days, for any reason and without a justification. As above, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
