Fantastic necklace by Oystein Balle of Norway. Pendant is sterling silver plated in 18k gold and features a leaf shaped design with a rich, dark emerald green guilloche enamel center that has a abstract modernist design. The enamel is fully intact, crisp and bright with no damage of any kind. Minor wear to the back, comparable to age. I have paired it with a petite gold-filled chain. Hard to believe it's roughly 75 years old! Beautiful and timeless collector's piece.
Oystein Balle, a master goldsmith, established his workshop in 1953 and ceased operations in the late 1960's or early 1970's. His father, Olav Georg Balle was also a master goldsmith and apprenticed with Hellstrom in Stavanger in the 1930s.
