Quite a fantastic and rare estate find! These hand wrought sterling silver cufflinks feature a modernist linear design with 2 recessed areas that have been oxidized for depth and 3-dimensional effect. They also feature an articulating bullet style back and Phyllis' original jewelry mark from the mid-1940s before marrying Izzy Sklar. They have been professionally polished and look almost new. Any strange lines or marks in the photos are just reflections. A superb collector's set.
Israel "Izzy" Sklar and Phyllis Gold Sklar. Originally from Brooklyn, NY, he and Phyllis moved to an artist's community in Provincetown, Mass in the 1950's. They were considered one of the most prolific designers of their time creating the dripping rock technique that eventually became known as Brutalist style.
