Positively fantastic sterling silver modernist star or asterisk brooch by the incomparable Betty Cooke. There is light patina in the corners but other than that, it is in excellent condition with no damage. Included with purchase is a converter (silver plated) so it can be worn as a pendant if preferred.

Betty Cooke is a recognized as being one of the premier artists associated with the mid-century modernist American Studio Jewelry movement. Born in 1924, she trained as a sculptor at the Maryland Institute of Art , receiving her degree in 1946. Her designs have a clean cut, architectural quality, with an emphasis on simplicity.
