Fantastic sterling silver modernist style leaf brooch by the iconic Paul Lobel. Features a raised center vein and strategically oxidized to give it depth and warmth. It has been professionally polished and looks phenomenal. Hard to believe this stunning piece is over 70 years old! Included with purchase is a converter so it can be worn as a pendant if preferred. 

Paul Lobel (1899-1983) New York, NY & Provincetown, RI - Industrial Designer, sculptor & jeweler.  Jewelry from c.1943. Romanian born Paul Lobel, one of the most well-known of the mid-20th Century modernist jewelers, was also a successful painter, cartoonist, sculptor, and designer of glass, furniture and hollowware. From modest beginnings on Manhattan's Lower Eat Side, Lobel rose to achieve a one-man show in Paris in 1925, two awards at the International Exposition of Decorative Arts in Paris in 1937, and 2 exhibitions at the American Museum of Modern Art in NYC. He was one of a handful modernist jewelers accredited with the wearable art movement in Greenwich Village, along with the likes of Art Smith, Bill Tendler, Sam Kramer, Jules Brenner, Ed Wiener and Henry Steig.
