Superb sterling silver and black onyx beaded necklace from the iconic GoGo Jewelry Company. Completely strung by hand, per there website, this necklace is in excellent condition with no damage of any kind. GoGo still sells the Armadillo necklace on her site but no longer with Black Onyx beads. Positively stunning piece of art!

About the necklace from their website: The armadillo is a fantastic creature that it uses it's shell for protection against predators and its environment. The armadillo is the only mammal with this shell making it distinctive in the animal kingdom. Through the process of lost wax casting, the unique pattern of the shell is beautifully preserved.

It was through the eyes of her grandmother that imprinted on Gogo and began the creative process of transforming nature into adornment. Gogo attended art school, but her heart and inspiration was always on Cumberland. She returned to begin her now 30-year legacy of designing her line of jewelry and inspiring others to look at nature as she was taught.

Gogo’s accolades include designing gifts for the Atlanta Olympics as well as the G-8 Summit meeting held on Sea Island, inclusion in two presidential collections, being honored with a major exhibit and retrospective of all of her work at the High Museum in Atlanta, featured on CBS Sunday Morning, honored by 100 Miles of Georgia as one of the top 100 people to have made a difference in Georgia. She has had her designs featured in many movies and on television and has been a featured speaker at TEDx.

Today Gogo has two retail galleries: St Simons Island and Cumberland Island. Her jewelry is sold worldwide, her sculptures are in many private collections and she teaches corporate classes on her legacy and how to look at nature with respect and creativity. She continues to travel worldwide but always chooses to return to her island and her home. Her sense of place and her desire to instill the respect for nature in others remains her passion.
