History of the Anton Michelsen Company of Denmark:
Anton Michelsen (1809-1877) was born 1809 in Copenhagen. Appointed by the King of Denmark as the official Royal Family jeweler. Anton's son Carl Michelsen (1853-1921) continued the company when his father died in 1877.
Carl's son, Poul Ulrich Michelsen (1881-1957), joined the company as a partner in 1914. Poul Michelsen's son, Jørgen Michelsen (born 1912) joined the company in 1940 and became a partner in 1943. He established a Swedish subsidiary, AB A. Michelsen, Stockholm, in 1946. In 1985, A. Michelsen was merged with the Royal Porcelain Factory, Holmegaard Glasværk and Georg Jensen under the name Royal Copenhagen.
