Measurements: 15"T x 6.5"W x 6.5"D (38.1cm x 16.51cm x 16.51cm)
Markings: Kifer '04
Weight: 7.11 Lbs.
An extraordinary example of American contemporary studio ceramics by celebrated ceramic artist Michael Kifer, signed and dated 2004.
Standing an impressive 15 inches tall, this monumental handcrafted vessel is a spectacular fusion of abstract painting, dimensional sculpture, and architectural design.
The dramatic asymmetrical body showcases a brilliant kaleidoscope of electric turquoise, chartreuse, golden yellow, coral, lavender, and vivid orange. Expressive brushstrokes, spontaneous linear markings, circular motifs, and layered color create a dynamic abstract composition that continues around every surface.
Its most remarkable feature is the elaborate sculptural upper section, which contrasts beautifully with the glossy, painterly lower body.
An extraordinary raised ceramic panel features deeply incised geometric patterns, crosshatched textures, and brilliant metallic-looking copper, gold, cobalt blue, and iridescent green finishes. A bold red abstract accent creates an additional focal point within the intricately textured design.
The sculptural rim sweeps dramatically around the vessel's open upper section, incorporating organic folds, carved impressions, and richly colored metallic effects.
The interaction between highly textured matte surfaces, shimmering metallic highlights, and exuberant glossy color gives this exceptional work remarkable visual depth and dimension.
A commanding decorative statement from every angle, this impressive vessel beautifully complements Postmodern, Memphis-inspired, contemporary, eclectic, and modernist interiors.
