Fantastic designer William Spratling modernist 3D domed sterling silver earrings. They feature a linear pattern almost reminiscent of a seashell. Subtle yet very classy design that will always be in style. They are in good working order with light patina and wear to the backs. Not surprising as they are almost 100 years old.  The mark dates it to 1940-1946. Wonderful collector's set. The last photo is from the book reference below (Page 172) and shows this exact mark and the time period it dates to.

They could easily and inexpensively be converted to post back earrings by a jeweler.

William Philip Spratling (1900-1967) Generally regarded as the most influential designer in Mexico, American-born William Spratling was instrumental in helping "Rekindle the ashes" of the silver design industry in Taxco. Spratling became a catalyst for the neo-Aztec movement in Mexican silver design. His "mark" is respected as an "international byword for quality. Spratling settled in Taxco in 1929, and in 1931 he established his shop, Taller de Las Delicias, to create and sell his jewelry and other crafts. Many of the gifted designers and silversmiths who worked for Spratling in the 1930's and the 1940's expanded his design impact after launching their own successful careers. By 1944, well over 300 persons were employeed by Spratling. To learn more about Spratling please purchase and read:  Bille Hougart's Book "The Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks". That is the source of this information and the book is a wealth of information.
